Oporto of My Childhood
Directed by Manoel de Oliveira
With the rigor of inspiration, director Manoel de Oliveira returns to Oporto (commonly referred to as Porto), the city of his birth. The Oporto of his childhood is laden with history, a city of artists and thinkers, and as the film moves from the ruins of his house to the sprawling city streets, a society unseen by most travelers or tourists begins to take shape before the viewer's eyes. OPORTO OF MY CHILDHOOD is a lavish search for memories, footprints, testimonies, and marks of a time long past.
