Zeitgeist Films in association with Kino Lorber have acquired North American distribution rights to Rachel Elizabeth Seed’s debut documentary feature 'A Photographic Memory'. Winner of the Truer Than Fiction Award at the 2025 Film Independent Spirit Awards and a New York Times Critic’s Pick, 'A Photographic Memory' is an intimate, genre-bending portrait of the filmmaker’s trailblazing mother, Sheila Turner Seed – a vibrant and pioneering journalist, photographer, and filmmaker, who died suddenly and tragically when Rachel was just 18 months old. Zeitgeist Films is planning a theatrical release in early summer 2025.

Kino Lorber has acquired North American distribution rights to Jessica Palud’s sophomore feature 'Being Maria', a moving portrait of the turbulent life and career of the late French actress Maria Schneider, starring 'Happening' breakout Anamaria Vartolomei as the 'Last Tango in Paris' star and Matt Dillon as Marlon Brando. The film will be released theatrically by Kino Lorber in 2025, followed by a digital, educational, and home video release.

Kino Lorber in association with Zeitgeist Films have acquired U.S. and English-speaking Canadian rights to 'Holy Cow' (Vingt Dieux), which had its world premiere at Un Certain Regard at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, where it was awarded the Youth Prize. The film is written and directed by first time feature director Louise Courvoisier, and marks the on-screen debut of Clement Faveau as the young farmer Totone. Zeitgeist is planning additional stops at fall festivals and a theatrical opening at Film Forum in the first quarter of 2025, with a national theatrical rollout to follow.

Kino Lorber has acquired North American distribution rights to Paul Schrader’s 'Oh, Canada', starring Richard Gere in his first collaboration with Schrader since American Gigolo. The film premiered in competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, and will continue to screen on the festival circuit at the Toronto International Film Festival and New York Film Festival this fall. Kino Lorber is planning an awards season theatrical release this December, followed by a home video, educational, and digital release on all major platforms.

Kino Lorber has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Johan Grimonprez’s galvanizing documentary 'Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat', partnering with Kanopy, the premiere public library and university streaming platform for films that matter. A vibrant and richly detailed essay film that intertwines jazz and politics to re-examine the 1961 assassination of Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba, 'Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat' unravels colonial power dynamics in Africa to a soundtrack of American jazz greats, including Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, and Duke Ellington. Kino Lorber will release the film theatrically in fall 2024, followed by a home video, educational, and digital release on all major platforms.

Kino Lorber, a leading name in independent film distribution for over 45 years, is expanding its KINO FILM COLLECTION to its own direct-to-consumer streaming service available at www.kinofilmcollection.com and as a standalone app on Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV and Roku. Directed by Emmy and IDA Award-winning filmmaker Erik Nelson, with creative consultation from Yoko Ono and Sean Ono Lennon, 'Daytime Revolution' features archival footage from each of the five episodes as well as interviews with six of the original guests, all reconstructing the music, the magic, and the behind-the-scenes madness of this unprecedented and historic week of television. LevelK’s queer drama 'Sebastian', which made its world premiere in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at Sundance Film Festival 2024, has generated excitement among buyers at this year’s EFM, resulting in sales to numerous territories. The film made its North American premiere at DOC NYC last fall and will be released theatrically via Zeitgeist Films in late June 2024, followed by an educational, home video, and digital release on all major platforms by Kino Lorber.

Milestone Films and Kino Lorber are proud to announce the 4K and analog 35mm restoration and release of Charles Burnett’s long-lost feature, The Annihilation of Fish, starring James Earl Jones, Lynn Redgrave, and Margot Kidder. The restoration by UCLA Film & Television Archive and The Film Foundation with funding provided by the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation of the acclaimed independent filmmaker’s missing movie will have its world premiere at the Wexner Center for the Arts at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio on March 2, 2024 as part of the 10th annual Cinema Revival: A Festival of Film Restoration. Mr. Burnett will be in attendance. UCLA Film & Television Archive will host the film’s Los Angeles premiere on April 5, as part of their 25th anniversary Festival of Preservation.
